Primary 2 Chinese

This programme is designed to strengthen Primary 2 students’ ability to manage main components of Chinese syllabus, while deepening their knowledge of Chinese language. 

Our curriculum focuses on building students’ interest and confidence in the language through interactive story telling and games. We provide students with an engaging and systematic approach to language learning, students will learn to master content and exam techniques with a strong focus on vocabulary and sentence structure.

Vocabulary

In-class vocabulary games and activities will help your child:

• Recall new words learnt and able to differentiate words with similar forms, meanings and pronunciation 
• Learn how to categorise words into verbs, nouns and adjectives and remember their repetitive collocation
• Construct sentence with the words learnt 

Listening, speaking and communication

Frequent in-class group discussion and 1 to1 oral practices covering various relevant themes will help your child:

• Gain confidence in reading aloud and fluently
• Learn different sentence structure and thematic vocabulary to craft accurate verbal response 
• Learn to communicate in Chinese confidently in daily life

Reading comprehension

Story analysis and skill-based workshops will help your child:

• Comprehend a story / passage and overcome challenging vocabularies
• Learn to identify keywords and analyse question requirements
• Learn to look for clues in the passage and craft specific answers for specific question types 

Writing

Workshops with structure framework will help your child:

• Apply basic elements of story structure to plan a logical story
• Ensure logical story flow and sound content development
• Apply varied sentence structures and thematic descriptive phrases in composition
• Learn to identify the conflict and provide resolution, especially in picture composition 

Timed practices and customised feedbacks

• Hone time management skills for each component
• Allow you child to learn from each others’ strength and weakness
• Helping your child to have a better understanding of their strength and weakness 
• Develop self-directed learning and make specific personalised adjustments proactively to excel in the school exam

Mastering the language use

• Able to understand and use vocabulary in relation to pronunciation, form and meaning for this level
• Able to use vocabulary and sentence structure accurately for verbal and written task

Oral communication

• Able to listen, read and respond to questions with appropriate vocabulary and sentence structure
• Able to use vocabulary to describe actions, behaviour and emotions accurately
• Able to use knowledge of vocabulary to express one’s thoughts and feeling on a given matter, topic or theme fluently

Composition Writing

• Able to use thematic vocabulary and descriptive phrase to write in accordance to given questions or scenario
• Able to use story and sentence structure to plan and write a complete captivating story based on the given pictures

Reading comprehension

• Able to apply specific strategies to read passage, make accurate comparisons, draw inferences and grasp the theme aptly
• Able to use keywords to correctly analyse different question types with exam techniques taught
• Able to find the correct answer and apply specific answering techniques.
